posted Sep 14, 2015, 10:33 AM by Web Master   [ updated Sep 24, 2015, 7:52 AM ]

Prairie Grove Superintendent Dr. Phil Bender is announcing the assembly of a school/community committee to study facility issues at Prairie Grove Elementary and Junior High Schools.  Additional deterioration of the elementary side is warranting a closer look to see what improvements need to be made and how to finance such projects.  New Board member Steve Sebastian will be the Board representative along with our Chief School Business Official Kevin Werner.

Our organizational meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 7th, beginning at 6.p.m. in the Junior High Library.  If you have some time to give, this is a very worthwhile project that will enhance learning for our children for years to come.  Be a part of this wonderful research project!

The PG Summer Drama Camp completed its ninth annual week of fun, games, crafts, and drama for students entering grades four through eight.

Boys and girls participated in activities that support first time performers experience in the performing arts, in an environment that builds confidence and camaraderie. The wrap-up to the week long activities included a performance for friends and families, this year the performance was “Big Bad”. This trial of the Big Bad Wolf from fairy tale fame entertained the audience while allowing our camp performers a chance to put their drama skills to use in a live performance.

Mrs Levy, Mrs O’Leary, and Ms Rosner are proud of the participants’ willingness to try new things and involve themselves in the confidence building experience of the performing arts.

8th Grade Mystery Hangout

posted May 21, 2015, 7:07 AM by Web Master   [ updated Aug 21, 2015, 7:52 AM ]

8th Graders broke down the walls of the classroom and embarked on a global learning journey this month. Each of Mrs. Page’s Social Studies classes connected via Google Hangouts with another classroom from around the country or world to solve a geography mystery. Neither class involved in the Google Hangout knew where the other was located ~ they took turns asking one another yes/no questions to narrow down the location. In the end, students discovered their Mystery friends to be located in:

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, Canada
Spanish Fork, Utah
Beech Grove, Indiana
Crown Point, Indiana

Check out a peek at their adventure below. Many of the pictures were taken by the students themselves. Great job, 8th Graders!
