We are deeply saddened by the events surrounding the school shooting in Connecticut today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the students, families and community members during this tragic time.
Please be assured our number one priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of your children while in our care.   As you know, earlier this year we reviewed our Crisis Emergency Plan with the Prairie Grove Police and Nunda Fire Departments.  While there is no plan that can totally prevent a random act of senseless violence like this, we have made a number of changes to our school practices and we will continue making revisions as necessary.

Needless to say, it can be difficult for us, as adults, to process and make sense of these types of violent acts. Our District staff stand by to offer our support to you and your family at this time. Please know that our school social workers and our psychologist will be available to any student or family who might need assistance in dealing with this situation.  Please read the information sent home today by Principal Vic Wight.  It contains valuable tips for dealing with children when there is tragedy in the news.  This news can be  especially frightening for children since the target site was an elementary school.

Should further support be necessary, please feel free contact your child’s school, teacher or social worker.  We are to help.
