The winter session of chess club starts Wednesday, December 10th, so please register by Monday, December 8th.   at: www.prairiegrovechess.eventbee.com

Chess is fun for all ages and exercises the brain. The student will learn the basics of the game and beyond including opening theory, middle game tactics, and endgame patterns.   Chess also teaches life skills – problem solving, decision-making, coping, patience, concentration, discipline in thinking and behavior – and provides an intellectual foundation that will serve the student well in all they pursue. All levels welcome. Registration flyer is attached! (Chess Registration Flyer)

8th Grade Washington, DC Trip

It's not too late to sign up for this amazing experience to visit our Nation's Capital.  We have nineteen students participating but still have a few open spots for any that would like to join us. The trip is on January 17-19, 2015 and the cost of the trip is $899 per student.  This fee includes everything, hotel, airfare, transportation, food, historian, performance at the Kennedy Center and admissions.  The only additional costs would be spending money.  We have a packed itinerary and provide plenty of great photo opportunities.  If you have any questions or are interested in attending please check out Ms. Williams DC website or email her at lwilliams@dist46.org.

Veteran's Day
Mrs. Mate is planning to share photos of students' relatives that have served in the Armed Forces with our school children in a video during our morning announcements on VeteransDay, November 11th! We already have over 20 participants in the video but would love additional photos.
If you would like a chance to have your loved ones photos included please send an electronic file to the district to cmate@dist46.org by November 5, 2014.

Family Reading Night
Our annual Family Reading Night is coming up! Please take a look at the flyer, save the date and we hope to see you there. (Family Reading Night Flyer)

Building Reading Incentives
Hopefully your child has come home a little more motivated to read as of late! Both schools are working on a reading incentive along with an all district D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read). More details will be forthcoming. Until then, ask your kids!
