Dear PG Parent,

Tonight is our ever popular Variety Show. It begins at 7:00 p.m. We also have the annual Winterfest at Prairieview Nature Center tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. More details for the fest can be found here: Winterfest Link. Here is an update on a few things below:

Lice Awareness
Please remain diligent about checking your child for lice. Prairie Grove has had a couple of cases recently and would like it to remain at a couple.

Parking Lot Entrance/Exit
Please make sure to use the proper entry/exits when arriving/leaving the school. It becomes a hazard when leaving or entering the incorrect direction.

Keyboarding/PARCC Preparation

Throughout the year, students have been working towards developing their keyboarding skills. A district wide effort is under way to best prepare our students for the upcoming transition from the paper and pencil ISAT to the computer-based PARCC assessment. The PARCC assessment will be completely computer-based, meaning students will need to respond to questions (multiple choice, drop and drag, short response, and essay) via the computer.

Best practice shows that students best make progress with keyboarding skills when they engage in daily practice (approximately 20 minutes) for a 4-8 week time period. Each grade level (3-8) has established requirements for students to participate in keyboarding training.

The program is accessible through our district’s website under the Panther Portal Link. Students in grades 3-8 will be using “Typing Training”.

In an effort to celebrate those students who have demonstrated grade level proficiency, an end of year celebration will occur (date to be determined).

Please encourage your child to put forth their best effort when participating in the Typing Training program.

Kindergarten Registration - Fall 2015
Kindergarten Registration took place last night. If you know of any other families that didn't register, please urge them to register early. It will help with our staffing plan for next school year.

Have a wonderful weekend.
