It has been a fabulous start to the school year! Students have come ready to learn and are doing a terrific job or ROARing. Dr. Bender, Superintendent, has seen firsthand how our students and teachers are performing. You may have heard he has been eating with the kids! Please stay tuned for his newsletter in the mail or you can read it here: Community Connect Newsletter. More information from me is below:
Attached below you will find student accident enrollment instructions for a voluntary 24 hour accident and dental coverage. As was done last year, there are no brochures and the enrollment can be completed online by interested parents for this important voluntary coverage.
All K-8 students are required to turn in the Parent Student Handbook Acknowledgment Form as soon as possible. It can be found at the back of the Handbook.
Raptor is our new visitor management system that scans a driver’s license and/or state ID and checks the information against the National Sex Offender data base. If no match is found, the system will print a visitor’s sticker with a picture identifying you as an approved visitor.
Raptor only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth and photo for comparison purposes. No other personal identifying information is saved.
If the system raises a question about a visitor’s background, the school administrator(s) will take the necessary steps to ensure the appropriateness of each individual’s visit.
Upon your initial visit the process will take approximately 30 seconds, however on return visits we will only be required to enter the first three letters of your last name and the system will recognize you.
Prairie Grove SD 46 has created a Virtual Backpack Link. The Virtual Backpack contains documents, flyers, and other information from non-profits and other community organizations. Please access the link below:
Chess Club and Young Rembrandts Flyers are attached below and can also be found in the Virtual Backpack!
Junior High Curriculum Night
Attached you will find an invitation and a schedule for next week's JH Curriculum Night for 6th - 8th Grade! We look forward to seeing everyone on August 28th from 7:00 - 8:00. 6th Grade parents are asked to join us in the JH cafeteria at 6:30 for an informational meeting about Timber-lee.
Daily Morning Announcements
Please reinforce with your child to listen to our morning announcements for important information throughout the year. Parents can view the announcements by logging into PowerSchool for Parents.
Drop Off Policy
If you need to bring an item to your child during the day, you may leave it with the secretaries in the office. The Jr. High secretary will write your child's name on the white board for items brought in before 8:30. Otherwise, students names will be called out at lunch to come to the office to collect their item, or for items brought after lunch time, students will be called down at study hall.
Returning from a Medical/Dental Appointment
When returning your child to school after a medical/dental appointment, please bring a note or receipt from that appointment so the absence can be excused.
If your child will not be taking their regular bus home, they will require a note from their parent or guardian. Also, please have your child bring a note to the office at the beginning of the day in order to have your child ready to be picked up.
Elementary Curriculum Night
Elementary Curriculum Night for 1st - 5th grades is September 3, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.
Students riding different buses or requiring pickup passes should bring in a note from home. Phone calls to school requiring bus changes or pickup passes need to be made no later than 2:30 p.m.
Jen Smith, Lunch Service Manager, has asked us to remind the parents that lunch is now $2.35 including milk. If you send in money in a ziplock bag, please label your child's name and teacher. If you only want to purchase milk, it's $.50. Exact change is appreciated and purchasing lunch tickets is even better.
