Dear PG Parent,

Two more weeks left until Winter Break! Are you ready for your kids to be back? I certainly am excited about spending more time with my family and kids. Family time is so important in the life of your child. Please enjoy your break!

Here are a couple of announcements:

Book Fair!
The PTO Sponsored Book Fair began on December 5th. The remaining days are:
Friday - 3:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday - 9:00 - 1:00 p.m. (First 30 shoppers receive a free poster)
*NEW TIME* - Sunday - 9:00 - 1:00 p.m. - *NEW TIME*

8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip Meeting
An informational meeting will be held on December 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Junior High Library.

School Bd. Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for December 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Junior High Library.

Junior High Detentions
The administration and junior high staff are looking into changing the 7th & 8th grade lunch detentions into after school detentions. This new procedure will take place after winter break and more information will be forthcoming.

District Homework Deadlines
The single most important way for students to learn prior to testing is great instruction and practicing in class and at home. Unfortunately, the school has not seen an improvement in homework completion despite different efforts. Please monitor your child's homework completion and check their assignment notebook each night. You will be helping us tremendously. Prairie Grove is reviewing our homework deadlines and may alter the deadlines in an attempt to improve homework completion. More information will be provided at a later date.

Junior High Girls Basketball Tryouts
Please see the flyer attached for details.

Technology Carts
Prairie Grove deploys shared Technology Carts which are reserved by Teachers and Staff to enrich learning within their classrooms and labs via Technology Integration.  These carts have been purchased in staggered intervals to spread the cost over a number of years and are refreshed on an ongoing basis.  Some of our Technology Carts are newly purchased and deployed as recently as this school year (2013-14) while we have some Technology Carts that have been serving our Students and Staff since as far back as 2007 (6+ years).

Our ongoing Technology Plan to is to replace aging devices based on two criteria: useful life and cost.  Some of our oldest devices are nearing the end of their useful life and our plan is to replace these devices upon approval of our next major Technology Purchase."

Sincerely,

Vic Wight
