At the regular December 9 monthly Board of Education meeting for Prairie Grove District 46, James Kastner was appointed to the board to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lori McConville on November 8, 2014. Mr. Kastner will serve out her remaining term, which ends with the spring 2015 school board elections. Mr. Kastner is currently employed by Baxter Credit Union Wealth Advisors as a financial planner and portfolio specialist. He is married and has a daughter, Ava, who is in sixth grade at Prairie Grove Junior High School. According to Board President Margaret Ponga, “After receiving the applications from the candidates and then conducting the interviews in public, James was ranked as the board's first choice. He possesses the financial skills necessary to be a very active and engaged board member for District 46”.

Other individuals within the Prairie Grove community that applied to be considered for the open position included Sue Nelligan, Joe Ricciardi, and Cynthia Jones.
