PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release

TO: Prairie Grove CSD 46 Community Member

FROM: Joe Ricciardi, Board President

DATE: January 12, 2018

RE: Prairie Grove CSD 46 Master Facility Planning

The Board of Education together with our Superintendent’s Steering Committee has engaged CannonDesign to proceed with a Facilities Master Plan. Under this agreement, CannonDesign will explore innovative solutions for the evolution of the District and its facilities into a progressive 21st century learning environment that capitalizes on existing resources and thoughtfully considers new opportunities.

CannonDesign will work alongside Prairie Grove CSD 46 students, faculty, staff, parents, and other community stakeholders to understand the challenges and aspirations of the current district community in the context of constantly changing curricular and co-curricular needs.

The integrated master planning process scheduled to begin later this month is comprised of four parts:

  • Discover is about the current state

  • Develop is about ideal solutions

  • Detail is about physical & fiscal realities

  • Deliver is about consensus

The process will culminate in a Facilities Master Plan (FMP) resulting from the deep-rooted mission and aspirations of Prairie Grove CSD 46 and CannonDesign’s expertise in 21st century learning environments. The planning process will empower stakeholders towards collaboration and action to implement the collective plan.

A FMP allows the Board of Education to make fiscally responsible decisions about facility enhancements taking many factors such as teaching and learning, safety and security into account. Board President Joe Ricciardi is pleased with the collaborative efforts utilized for the plan. “It comes down to engaging the community and finding out what their desires are with regards to the District,” says President Ricciardi. Board member Steve Sebastian added, “We need to start with the plan, the process makes it fit so perfectly with where we want to go, but we need to have the roadmap, before we start anything!”

Over the course of the FMP development, updates will be provided on the District website and shared via social media. The Board of Education and Superintendent’s Steering Committee will provide an ongoing community voice throughout the process.
