H1N1 Flu Information

By Vic Wight

August 27, 2009

Dear Parents,

Prairie Grove School District 46 wants to keep you informed of the latest H1N1 flu information. Please read the following attachment from the Illinois State Board of Education:

Illinois State Board of Education H1N1 Letter

Illinois State Board of Education H1N1 Letter - Spanish Version

Parents can also check the McHenry County Health Department’s web site for further information on the flu and/or the other State and National links listed below.

Here are some ways to protect you and members of your household:

• Teach your children to wash hands a lot with soap and water for 20 seconds. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.
• Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow/sleeve. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.
• Teach your children to not touch their eyes, nose or mouth with their hands. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
• People who are sick should stay at home or seek medical care if necessary. If a child becomes ill, they should stay home for two days after symptoms have subsided.

If you have questions, please contact your healthcare provider or your local public health department.
