Band Students Excel at Solo and Ensemble Contest

Thirty Advanced Band members voluntarily chose to participate in the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest held in Johnsburg on Saturday, February 7, 2009. The students participated in a total of 46 events, receiving two Second Division ratings and 44 First Division ratings. Both Second ratings were only one point away from a First, and the First Division ratings included two perfect scores (Star First ratings). The students were critiqued in seven musical categories and received medals for their accomplishments. They are now displaying a total of 87 new medals on their blazers.

District is very proud of how hard the students have been working
on their selections since the end of November, both on th
eir own and by coming in for help before or after school.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing terrific
support of the band program that the staff provides week in and
week out. Congratulations to District 46 Band Director Kathy Krepel
and all participating Advanced Band members on another outstanding
accomplishment.
