Weekly Assignments for Social Studies

8/28/08-Complete the interest inventory.

8/29/08-Cover social studies textbook.  Start making a list of what is wrong with your book.  The list will be due 9/5/08.

I am sorry that this did not get posted yesterday.  Our internet connection was not working.

9/2/08- Finish "Landforms" packet and complete the "Directions on Directions" handout.

9/3/08-Begin working on the "Bodies of Water" packet.  List of what is wrong with your book is due on Friday.  The first quiz over classroom vocabulary and the packets will be 9/12/08.

9/4/08-What is wrong with your book is due tomorrow.The first quiz over classroom vocabulary and the packets will be 9/12/08.

9/5/08- Complete handouts (2).The first quiz over classroom vocabulary and the packets will be 9/12/08.

9/8/08- Complete handouts.The first quiz over classroom vocabulary and the packets will be 9/12/08.

9/9/08- (Periods 1,4,7, and 8) Draw an outline of  your country.  Be sure to include a compass rose, a legend box, and the latitude and longitude of the country.  The quiz on Friday will include classroom vocabulary and information from the packets.  Be sure to study the continents and oceans, and be aware of how to use longitude and latitude to locate places.

9/10/08 -Finish Worksheet #1. Study for test/quiz on Friday.

9/11/08- Study for test.

9/12/08- No Homework

9/15/08- Not Homework

9/16/08- Periods 1,4,7, and 8 finish worksheet #2 and color your map.  Period 3 - Finish worksheet #1.  All students receiving below a 70 % on their S.S.  test must have it signed and returned by Friday.

9/17/08- No Homework

****Parents *****Please have students bring their backpacks with them to Timber Lee.

9/18/08- Periods 1,4,7, and 8 complete worksheet #3.  Period 3- Finish worksheet #2.  This includes the written assignment and map.

9/19/08 - Finish campaign speech.  Extra Credit - Create a campaign poster for your candidate.  The poster must be colorful and include at least three facts. This will be due after Timber Lee.

10/16/08- Complete the study guide over pages 28-35.   There will be an open notebook quiz next Wednesday over all vocabulary copied in class this year.

10/20/08- Complete the handout on pages 36-39.  The paragraph should have at least five sentences and three facts from the text.  Be sure to underline your facts.  There will be an open notebook quiz Wednesday over all vocabulary copied in class this year.

10/21/08-Complete the handout over pages 40-43. There will be an open notebook quiz Wednesday over all vocabulary copied in class this year.

10/22/08-No homework

10/23/08-Write 3/4  of a page diary entry about the "Iceman of the Alps."  Be sure to include four facts in your entry.

10/24/08- No homework.

10/27/08- Complete the graphic organizer for section 2 (pages 58-64).

10/28/08- Periods 3,4,7, and 8--Write a 1/2 page summary about each election article.

10/29/08- Begin working on projects. Students should complete two of the projects from the Fertile Crescent  Project sheet. The projects will be due 11/7/08.  There will be a test over chapters 2 and 3 on 11/5/08.  A study guide will go home next week.  What is Wrong With My Book (for the brown book) will be due 11/5/08.

10/30/08-Complete the graphic organizer for pages 65-69. Students should complete two of the projects from the Fertile Crescent  Project sheet. The projects will be due 11/7/08.  There will be a test over chapters 2 and 3 on 11/5/08.  A study guide will go home next week.  What is Wrong With My Book (for the brown book) will be due 11/5/08.

11/11/08- Work on Nile River Project.  The project is due Monday.  Students may do an extra project for extra credit.

11/12/08-11/14/08-Work on Nile River Project.  The project is due Monday.  Students may do an extra project for extra credit.

11/17/08- No Homework- Egypt Day will be 12/5/08.  All students will need to have a costume.  The costumes do not have to be elaborate.  Girls may bring in a sheet to wear as a toga; boys may bring in a white t-shirt and a towel to wear as a kilt.  Ideas for costumes were given to the students today.  Students drew cards to decide where they would be on the social pyramid.  Students that are merchants/artisans/farmers should make items to be sold that day.  Each merchant/artisan/farmer will need to make 15 items.
